2025 HIGHLIGHTS

$2.5 MILLION FOR FIRE SAFETY THROUGHOUT SAN DIEGO COUNTY

To accomplish our mission to make San Diego the Safest County in the Nation, in 2025 the Fire Foundation provided over $2.5 million of critical fire suppression and prevention equipment to fire agencies throughout the County, supported Fire Safe Councils in their community-based fire prevention, education, and home hardening programs, and provided scholarships to EMTs to attend paramedic school or fire academy. 

Here are a few highlights:

New Brush Engines for the San Miguel Fire Protection District and the Santee Fire Department.

330 portable and mobile radios for 40 fire stations to replace out-of-date equipment and expand communication capability.

27 paramedic and fire academy scholarships to grow the next generation of first responders.

Fire Safe Councils

31 Fire Safe Councils received $300,000 for wildfire prevention and preparedness programs in San Diego’s communities.

Funding provided for other critical programs includes:

  • Equipment for Poway Fire Department’s new hook & ladder truck.
  • Rope rescue equipment for Escondido Fire Department.
  • Drone for San Marcos Fire Department.
  • Redesign of Emergency Alerts for East County Magazine.
  • Supported the “Ignite Your Potential” young women’s empowerment camp in Vista and Oceanside.
  • Specialized cleaning equipment for firefighter PPE for Heartland Fire Rescue Department (El Cajon and La Mesa).
  • Thermal imaging cameras for Bonita / Sunnyside Fire Protection District.
  • Wildland PPE for Alpine Fire Protection District.
