Anderson inspects new equipment that will support firefighters’ health and safety.
Recognizing the partnership of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, the City of Poway, and the San Diego Regional Fire Foundation, Supervisor Joel Anderson met with Poway firefighters to see firsthand how their new extractors were going to keep them healthy and safe.
“This is a great piece of equipment that helps put the health and safety of our firefighters at the forefront of our priorities”, said Poway Deputy Chief of Operations Brian Mitchell.
Extractors launder firefighter’s soiled turnout gear after a fire. They benefit firefighters in many ways including:
- Reduces firefighters’ risk of cancer.
- Decontaminates firefighters’ turnout gear (PPE) immediately after use.
- Improves operational readiness getting equipment quickly back on the fire engine ready to respond to the next emergency.
